Statement of Faith

The Scriptures – The bible is the inspired Word of God. It is the result of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved upon by the Holy Spirit. It has been preserved through the years by God and is given to us by Him as the authoritative voice in matters of doctrine, faith, and conduct (2 Tim 3:16-17; I Thes 2:13; 2 Pet 1:20-21).The God Head – Our God is One God, yet manifested as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three bear witness in heaven and are always united and in agreement; three persons yet One God (Eph 4:4-6; 1 John 5:7).Mankind, Fall, and Redemption – Man was created in the likeness and image of God (Gen 1:26). Through Adam’s transgression or sin and fall, sin came into the world and the earth and mankind was cursed because of it. Sin separates us from God and Jesus was sent to reconcile us back to God. Jesus came as a man (read “Was Jesus the God Man”) to shed his blood on the cross to redeem mankind from sin and restore them back to God (Rom 5:14, 3:10, 3:23, 5:10; Heb 2:14). Jesus is the only mediator between God and mankind, the only sacrifice for sin, and the only way into the presence of God, our Heavenly Father (1 Tim 2:5; Heb 10:12; John 14:6). Salvation is a gift from God received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ of his death and resurrection and can’t be earned or accomplished by works (Eph 2:8-9; Rom 10:9-10; Titus 3:5).Repentance – Repentance means to decide or think differently about sin and turn from it and follow the way of righteousness or right ways according to God (Rom 6:17-18; Acts 3:19). True repentance brings God’s forgiveness and changes the way we feel and
act about sin, self, and God. Repentance is due to a change of heart experiencing compunction (a pricking of the conscience; a sharp feeling of uneasiness brought on by a sense of guilt) by either God drawing them by His Holy Spirit or from hearing the
gospel preached (John 12:32, 16:8-9; Rom 10:12-17).
Eternal Life and the New Birth – You must be born again or born from above to be saved (John 3:3, 1:12-13; 1 Pet 1:23). The new birth takes place after someone calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus to save them after repenting of their sins. The Holy Spirit comes into a person’s heart to live changing them on the inside (1 Cor 6:19; Col 2:11). A believer will spend eternity with the Lord if they continue in His ways and endure unto the end (Heb 3:6; Matt 24:13).Water Baptism and Communion – Water baptism is an outward sign of salvation and doesn’t save anyone including infants who are considered unaccountable (Rom 6:4; Col 2:12; Deut 1:39). Communion is an ritual for believers to partake in but isn’t the actual body and blood of Jesus but is a symbol of the same (1 Cor 12:24-25). Both water baptism and communion are not requirements for salvation but are important that the church participants in as a spiritual benefit.Baptism in the Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit baptism isn’t received when someone becomes born again. This baptism occurs after sanctification of a believer’s life and is ready to receive more of the Spirit (Matt 9:17; Acts 1:8). There are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit given to believers by the will of God to equip them for service which usually occurs after receiving the baptism of the Spirit (1 Cor 12:8-11; Heb 2:4). The Spirit of God is Holy and can only fill someone that lives holy and separates themselves from sin (Acts 5:32). Most people aren’t baptized in the Spirit even though they believe it because of never being broken of God to do His will and not their own (Heb 1:9; Matt 26:39).Faith and Works – Faith without works is dead and isn’t the words someone may speak but is demonstrated by their actions (James 2:20; Eph 2:10; Matt 7:20). Salvation isn’t based on works but our works demonstrate our salvation (Eph 2:8-9; Matt 7:21; Luke 12:43-47).Resurrection of the Just and the Return of the Lord – The Lord is coming back for His church an event known as the “rapture,” a catching away or to be caught up, and their bodies will be resurrected from the dead to be joined with their souls that are with the Lord in heaven (I Thes 4:16-17; 1 Cor 15:51-52; 2 Cor 5:8).Hell and Eternal Retribution – The one who physically dies in their sins without believing in and receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and the backsliders are hopelessly and eternally lost. They shall be forever banished from God’s presence and shall spend eternity in the lake of fire. They shall have no further opportunity of hearing the gospel or repenting. The lake of fire is real. The terms “eternal” and “everlasting,” used in describing the duration of punishment of the damned in the lake of fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in describing the duration of joy and ecstasy of the saints (Heb 9:27; Rev 19:20, 20:14-15, 21:3-4).
